All this week Trump's position has been on a downward slide. Trump's old allies have been turning against him and new charges are likely. But with the death of John McCain, there seems to be a pause.

The president’s behavior around the death of John McCain reminded me of something I recently read about our primate ancestors. That is, according to the anthropologist Richard Leakey, “The challenge for individuals in primate societies is to be able to predict the behavior of others.” Yet, in taking actions that could only bring consternation on himself and serve nothing but his own ego needs, it seems that our president lacks an ability first realized by our ancestors more than five million years ago.
