National Election Issues Continued

Thursday, October 30, 2014, 10am to 11:30 in the Meeting Room (behind the fireplace)

In our last meeting, we mostly talked about Maryland election issues. So for the next meeting, we will discuss national issues. Sherman passed out a list of national issues and we can use this as a starting point. But the list was rather long; so we need your help in picking the topics of discussion. Please look at the list and pick one issue you would like the group to discuss. If you can't find your issue on the list, bring it up anyway.

If you post your issue, as a comment to this blog, it will allow the rest of us to look up relevant facts.

  1. My issue is that Climate Change is finally returned as a national election topic. It seems that Tom Steyer's NextGen Climate PAC has made some progress, even though it has a ways to go.

    1. Good point . . . .And I suspect the below Report/recognition (from the Washington Post), has something to do with it:

"Drastic weather, rising seas and changing storm patterns could become “threat multipliers” for the United States, vastly complicating security challenges faced by American forces, the Pentagon said in a new report (2014 Climate Change Adaptation Report) on the impact of climate change released Monday."

  2. So, shall we explore climate change and energy - leaving "fracking" out of the discussion? There are plenty of other aspect to CC that need to be addressed.

    1. I thought we could talk about the politics of Climate Change. Tom Steyer says that people need to cast their vote primarily on the issue of Climate Change before the politicians will take notice. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEPVDItuGxQ
